Lucy Lewis
Native American Indian Pottery
Acoma Pueblo
5.25" x 8.25"
#1851 Sold

Lucy Lewis. You can't hear the name without thinking of
black-on-white pottery, heart-line deer, parrots and mimbres designs.
Lucy, the matriarch of Acoma Pueblo, created designs on her pottery that were
reminiscent of the pottery shards she found around the Pueblo. These
designs are easily recognizable, and were shared by not only her contemporaries,
but her children, Dolores, Mary, Emma and Andrew who still create beautiful
Acoma pottery today. This bowl is signed and dated "1963", and is in very
good condition with just a small amount of spalling typical of the period.
The fine-line is beautiful and precise. This is a wonderful pot to add to
your collection -- it has soul as well as beauty.
